About New Mexico

The Experience

New Mexico is famous for its amazing natural beauty and ancient past. From dinosaurs to volcanoes to Native American Anasazi ruins you won't be disappointed. In New Mexico, tourists can visit Carlsbad Caverns National Park with its more than 100 known caves, including Lechuguilla Cave -- the nation's deepest limestone cave. Chaco Culture National Historical Park preserves one of America's most significant and fascinating cultural and historic areas. It was a major center of ancestral Puebloan culture between AD 850 and 1250 and was a hub of ceremony, trade, and administration for the prehistoric Four Corners area. Ascend 4,000 feet in about 15 minutes along the western face of the Sandia Mountains on the Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway. Finally, take a walk through the historic capital of New Mexico, Santa Fe, and catch a glimpse of the oldest public building in the nation, the Palace of the Governors, and the oldest church in North America, the San Miguel Mission.
