Ventana is located on 243 acres of meadows and gently sloping wooded hillsides, 1,200 feet above the Pacific Ocean on the Big Sur coast. quiet, private and beautiful, our Inn provides a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere enhanced by our proximity to the area's natural wonders. Ventana is 28 miles south of Carmel on Highway One, 150 miles south of San Francisco, and 300 miles north of Los Angeles.

Room Details

Designed by Kipp Stewart of Big Sur, Ventana's twelve one-and two-story buildings of weathered cedar are scattered in a mountain meadow among landscaped gardens. Accented by redwood, oak and bay laurel trees, 60 oversized guest rooms, and spacious suites and villas offer rustic sophistication and romantic allure.

All accommodations feature a deck or patio with either forest, canyon, mountain or distant ocean view. Some decks have personal outdoor spas. Most rooms have a wood-burning fireplace, separate living area, a spacious bath with open enclosure slate/tub/shower, dressing area and custom bath amenities. Interior appointments include luxurious king-or queen-size bed. Color tones keep in harmony with the coastal setting; sage, rust, deep browns, cream and soft gold tones. Amenities include luxurious Egyptian cotton bedding, hooded terry cloth robes, slippers, umbrella, binoculars, in-room safe, refreshment honor bar, coffee and tea service, hair dryers, iron and ironing board, telephone, daily newspaper, and nightly turndown service.

Wine & Dine

Cielo, which means "heaven" or "sky" in Spanish, features spectacular 50-mile ocean vistas. The restaurant serves Mobil Four Star award-winning inspired cuisine in a romantic setting. Prix fixe menus change as new products become available daily. Cielo's warm, rustic interior opens onto its legendary terrace where panoramic views of the ocean and rugged Big Sur coastline stretch for miles. An outdoor cocktail lounge with fireplace offers a unique perspective to view the world, not to mention "The W.S.A". Wine Spectator Award of Excellence since 1992.

Spa & Fitness Facilities

The Spa embraces the "Essence of Big Sur" through use of natures healing gifts. All treatments are designed to relax and nurture the body and spirit, and rejuvenate and revitalize subtle energies. Choose from a variety of massages in the privacy of your room, on your view deck or in our spa, either by yourself or with your partner. Take the opportunity to lose yourself in the fragrance of mountain lavender or other natural botanical essences. Our practitioners are dedicated to providing an experience of relaxation and connection where one can find inner peace and sanctity.

Two pools at Ventana Inn & Spa offer idyllic settings for relaxation. Our famous clothing-optional pool is located on the west end of the property near the spa and reception area, It also has a clothing-optional sun deck. Our second pool is located at the upper end of the resort. Water temperature in both pools is kept at 80 degrees year round. Located next to each pool, are the Japanese hot baths, open daily and nightly to moonlight and a spectacle of stars.
