The building which houses today the Hotel Loggiato dei Serviti was built between 1517 and 1527 by the religious order of the Servi di Maria, later called Serviti, based on a project by the Arch. Antonio da Sangallo il Vecchio. The facade was to resemble the lines of the building situated on the opposite side, built a century earlier by Filippo Brunelleschi. The premises of the 'Serviti' were to be used to give hospitality to prelates passing through the city of Florence. The building remained property of the religious order for about 300 years, until around the second half of the 1800's, when all the land belonging to the church was sold to private individuals.

Bought by the Budini Gattai family, it first housed various tenants. It was in 1924 that the setting was converted into an Inn, at first with only a few rooms, it was secondly enlarged and it remained as Pensione Morandi until 1984.

The proprietors then took it back under their administration and began the restoration which lasted over two years. The hotel reopened in 1986 after a very accurate restoration where the original structures of the 15th and the 17th century were brought back to light. Today the hotel has 29 rooms. It furnished with antiques with modern comforts as satellite TV, piped music, A.C., mini bar, hair dryers and built in safe.
