This lovely 18th century manor house sits nestled amidst trees on a hillsisde, just 3 kilometres from the village of Rognes. The village has a good bakery and butcher, and a farmers' market every Wednesday. Rognes is also renowned for its stone (used in the construction of the buildings in Aix en Provence) and the quarries can be visited, as well as La Roque d'Antheron, site of the famous international piano festival, just minutes away. There is also an excellent gastronomic restaurant just 300 metres from the property.
With the Durance River and the town of Cadenet just 5 kilometres away, the property is also very well placed for visiting the Luberon hill villages.
The house is surrounded by a beautiful garden, with fountains, vine-covered archways, a rose garden, an olive grove, fruit and cypress trees. The ground floor rooms open to a gravel terrace under 100 year old plane trees and furnished for outdoor dining. To the left off this an archway covered in climbing roses, leads to the pool area. The swimming pool (approximately 8 x 8m), can be heated on request. The pool terrace, is furnished with wooden sun loungers and surrounded by cypress trees.
The main hallway is spacious with a central staircase with beautiful wrought iron railing, leading up to the first floor bedrooms. The interiors are decorated and furnished elegantly in a period style, with antiques and beautiful fabrics. The large living room features a fresco on one wall, a period fireplace and a piano, while the TV room is equipped with TV, DVD and stereo. It is very light with three sets of glass doors, opening to the front terrace. An Orangerie, reached via the kitchen or garden, is filled with pot plants and surrounded by glass, perfect for relaxing in the wicker armchairs, or as a dining room.
