The ancient property of a master potter, La Bastide de Moustiers is a country inn whose 12 rooms are each named after a different aspect of Provence. In the restaurant, head chef Eric Santalucia, who received a Michelin star in 2002, exalts the subtle flavors of the south. The Bastide's tree-filled park of 4 hectares offers a multitude of activities: a wander through the hotel's herb and vegetable gardens; relaxing around the heated pool; a longer stroll with a picnic basket and a bottle of wine, or a massage

The 12 bedrooms of La Bastide de Moustiers are all different and poetic, combining charm, comfort and simplicity. Each evokes a color, an aroma, or an image of Provence. Thus, the rooms have been named Tournesol (Sunflower), Lavande (Lavender), Framboise (Raspberry), Amande (Almond), Potiron (Pumpkin), Blanche (White), La Voliare (The Aviary), L'Olive, L'Abeille (Bee), Coquelicot (Poppy), Rose Tremiare, and Pigeonnier (Pigeon House). Right down to the smallest object, each bedroom and en-suite bathroom has its own particular style.

La Bastide's head chef Eric Santalucia has turned to the region's culinary sources to create a cuisine that showcases the rich local bounty.

The two or three dishes posted on the ardoise change daily, depending on what's presently ready for harvest in the garden.

There is no carte at La Bastide, says Eric Santalucia, because every day we prepare the vegetables, fruits and herbs that we picked the same morning in our garden. Our cooking finds its inspiration there. It's rustic, but at the same time very refined.

There are more than 300 wines divided between the two wine lists, including many rare bottles and exceptional vintages. The Carte de la Bastide de Moustiers showcases the variety of wines from the South of France, while La cave d'Alain Ducasse contains the quintessence of France's other wine regions.

And so, depending on the season, guests are able to sample the gastronomic wonders of the region: Beauregard lamb, Banon cheese, Riez truffle, Cavaillon melon...and, of course, the vegetables, salads, herbs and fruits from the garden, and the wonderful local olive oil.

La Bastide de Moustiers has one Michelin Guide star.
