About Kenya

The Experience

The country of Kenya lies directly on the equator and is a land of diverse geography and rich culture. While Kenya is possibly best known as a tourist destination for its world-famous national parks, amazing climate, and gorgeous beaches, this image does not give a great picture of what is truly beautiful about Kenya, its people, and their culture. In fact, non-tourist Kenya is very different from this perception, with endless landscapes of farms, fields, and streams, studded with tin and wooden shacks, crammed vehicles and bicycles, and dirt roads that are constantly roamed by both animal and child alike. And, while in the more-touristy areas of Kenya people employ a forced welcoming attitude, the people in the non-tourist areas of Kenya are genuinely kind to and curious about people of different cultures.
